Rebooting Junior Cricket at Spofforth

Junior cricket is vital to the future of any village club. The young players of today become the senior players of tomorrow, and without junior cricket it becomes very difficult for a club to survive in the long term.

Spofforth Cricket Club is rebuilding its junior section and welcoming new players and families to the club. Our aim is to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment where children can learn the game, develop confidence and enjoy being part of a village cricket club.

To help us organise the programme properly we ask parents to register interest through our Play-Cricket portal. This allows us to plan coaching, age groups and facilities while ensuring we provide the highest possible safeguarding standards for junior players.

Friday Night Training

Junior training takes place on Friday evenings during the cricket season from 18:30 to 19:45.

Sessions focus on developing cricket skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. Players practise batting, bowling and fielding through fun drills and small games designed to build confidence and enjoyment of the sport.

Children of all abilities are welcome. Some players will be picking up a bat and ball for the first time, while others may already have experience from school or other clubs.

Friday evenings are also a social part of the club week. Parents and siblings are welcome to stay and enjoy the atmosphere while training takes place, and the clubhouse bar will be open so families can relax and enjoy the summer evening by the ground.
